Reasons and elimination methods for crack defects in aluminum profile products during extrusion
Aluminum extrusion cracking: Sawteeth (periodic), cracking, or tearing occur near the edges or thickness differences of extruded aluminum. Visually or microscopically, cracking is more common at certain intervals, and high-strength aluminum alloys are prone to this type of cracking. When the extrusion temperature or speed is high, the extruded material becomes brittle at high temperatures, and it is easy to produce sharp edges and radii.

1. Reasons for Squeezing Cracks in Aluminum Alloy Products
(1) The temperature of the extruded wool material is too high;
(2) The extrusion speed is too fast;
(3) Throttle valve out of control;
(4) Heating furnace instrument malfunction;
(5) During porous extrusion, the arrangement of the mold holes is too close to the center, resulting in insufficient supply of metal at the center and a large difference in flow velocity between the center and the edges;
(6) Poor design and manufacturing of aluminum molds;
(7) The homogenization annealing of the ingot is not good.
Methods for eliminating cracks in extruded aluminum profiles
(1) Reduce the extrusion temperature and extrusion speed.
(2) Regularly patrol and inspect instruments and equipment to ensure normal operation.
(3) Modify the design of aluminum molds, carefully process them, especially the design of mold bridges, welding chambers, and corner radii should be reasonable; The edge radius of the extruded aluminum end face should be as large as possible.
(4) Try to minimize the Na content in high Mg alloys.
(5) Uniformization of ingots to improve plasticity and uniformity.
